My first real venture back into “normal” life happened on Wednesday, when after months of postponements due to lockdowns, I finally got to go see the Van Gogh Immersive exhibit! Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite what I’d been expecting, or hoping for. While the people working there were absolutely fantastic, the venue just wasn’t the right one for this kind of show. But you know what? I don’t care. It was just amazing to be out enjoying art in person again (I should add that everyone there was vaccinated and wearing masks). Sometimes, a disappointing experience can still be perfect 🙂

I really love Van Gogh’s imagery of the night and that everything seems to be in motion. 😃

Yes. I think he captures the night better than any other artist 🙂

I’ll be honest- it wasn’t until I saw a certain Doctor Who (Matt Smith era) episode where it showed us an animated version of one of Van Gogh’s paintings and I thought “That’s it! He was painting in motion!”

That is my favourite episode of the entire series! It was so beautifully put together, and I think it gave amazing insight into Van Gogh as both an artist and a person struggling with his mental health. And it had Bill Nighy too 🙂

Definitely one of the better episodes to be sure! Tony Curran made an excellent Van Gogh! And yes it did. 😁

He really did– when I picture Van Gogh now, I picture him lol

Surprisingly so 🙂 I’m sure for another generation, they picture (I think) Kirk Douglas.

Projected art doesn’t sound very immersive

I thought it would be like being inside the paintings, but, alas. If I’d known ahead of time, I still would have gone, though.

I am so jealous! I want to see this so bad but we have grandkids everyday or my husband works. Thank you for sharing the pictures.

I don’t know about where you live, but they’ve been extending the dates here so it’s lasting quite a bit longer than it was initially set for. If they’re extending dates there, you might get a chance to see it, after all (I really hope you do!) 🙂
